INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT ON EQUALITY AND INCLUSION AND CHAIR OF WOMEN 50:50

Talat Yaqoob FRSE is a consultant and campaigner. She has worked in the third sector for over 14 years, across a number of issues including women in STEM, violence against women, mental health and equality in education.

Her work includes social research, policy analysis and influencing, and public participation. She is the co-founder of Women 50:50 the national campaign for women’s fair representation in politics and founder of Pass the Mic, the national project on women of colour’s participation in Scottish media.

The circle

The NACWG is supported by the Circle, a wider group of individuals, allies and organisations including women and girls and all people, regardless of their gender, who are supportive of the #GenerationEqual movement. With its continually growing membership, The Circle have been involved with the NACWG from the beginning.

NACWG Phase One

In 2016, The Scottish Government pledged to establish NACWG, to help drive forward action to tackle gender inequality. The objectives are to play a leading role in raising awareness of gender inequality in Scotland, act as a champion for positive progress and policies that are making a meaningful difference to the lives of women and girls & be a catalyst for change.
