Executive Director of Close the Gap

Anna Ritchie Allan is Executive Director of Close the Gap, Scotland’s policy advocacy organisation working on women’s labour market equality. She participates in a range of national strategic working groups related to women and work, and has extensive experience of influencing employment practice within organisations.

Her background is in research, labour rights and violence against women. She has significant governance experience in the violence against women sector, and is the chair of the board of Scottish Women’s Aid.

The circle

The NACWG is supported by the Circle, a wider group of individuals, allies and organisations including women and girls and all people, regardless of their gender, who are supportive of the #GenerationEqual movement. With its continually growing membership, The Circle have been involved with the NACWG from the beginning.

NACWG Phase One

In 2016, The Scottish Government pledged to establish NACWG, to help drive forward action to tackle gender inequality. The objectives are to play a leading role in raising awareness of gender inequality in Scotland, act as a champion for positive progress and policies that are making a meaningful difference to the lives of women and girls & be a catalyst for change.
