Amina Ahmed

Scottish Government Fairer Future Codesign Panel

Amina was born on the 7th June 2002, in the town of Melrose. She currently lives in Galashiels with her family. Amina attended Burgh Primary School and is currently at Galashiels Academy in Year 4.

Throughout her experience in Galashiels Academy, she faced racial discrimination and was bullied for almost 3 years by certain pupils in her year group. Eventually Amina did something about it to make a change and involved herself within an equality assembly, talking about acceptance of different ethnic minorities. In early 2017, Amina was introduced to a Racial Equality panel at Young Scot, this was to create a fairer future. She enjoyed it and feels that she gained in confidence.

Amina describes herself as shy and relatively socially awkward, and is also bad at Spanish. In her free time, Amina likes to paint abstract pieces and watch an excessive amount of Netflix.
